Key Stage 3

Standing on a stage takes courage, and through Performing Arts pupils are able to experiment with their creativity in a safe and supportive environment. Performing Arts at De Warenne develops pupils’ interpersonal skills through theoretical studies; such skills will be transferable and lifelong.

Communication is key to all aspects of life and underpins the varied and creative curriculum offer. Through this pupils will also be encouraged to be cooperative, responsible, independent and reflective individuals. Varied influential playwrights are studied to encourage awareness of different styles of performance and influences.

Musical theatre is not only studied in lessons, but pupils are given the opportunities to visit numerous professional performances around the country. De Warenne also prides itself on producing its own performances, with recent examples being “We will rock you”, “ One Night Only” and “Beauty and the Beast”, for which the school was shortlisted through National Theatre Connections.
